China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiatives on Strategic Connectivity
Chongqing Municipality is selected as the base for the third government-to-government project between Singapore and China, beating two other sites - Chengdu, capital of south-western Sichuan province, and Xi'an, capital of north-western Shaanxi province. The Chongqing project follows in the footsteps of the 1994 Suzhou Industrial Park and the 2008 Tianjin Eco-City.
Four priority areas of collaboration have been identified, namely financial services, aviation, transport & logistics, and information & communications technology. Titled "China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity", the project will serve to enhance connectivity and drive the development of Western China. The implementation of the project will get the support from both countries and their relevant agencies.
